They knew how to use context clues to define words and delved deeper into the story by discussing things that surprised and confused them as well as made them laugh.

I can not say how thankful I am to have been able to go into a classroom and watch a lower reading group being taught a literacy lesson. It is nice to see how different teachers react when they have to pull the information from the students, and literally help them every step of the way. It is not an easy task, and I feel Mr. Livermore gave us an excellent example! I really learned a lot from seeing the scaffolding in the lower level reading group and listening to the other students talk about their experiences in the more advanced group.
